Spectacular mahogany-clad Duesenberg speedster coachwork was created by the French firm, Carrosserie Franay. These photos were taken at the 1996 or 1997 Pebble Beach Concours.

1935 Hispano-Suiza break coachbuilt by Franay

In France, woodies had considerable snob appeal, and the distinguished coachbuilder Franay rebodied several Rolls-Royces in the late forties, as well as this 1935 Hispano-Suiza K6 station wagon conversion completed in 1948.

1938 Matford 'Break de Chasse'

1938 Matford F-81 V-8 Break de Chasse Matford was a product of an agreement with the ailing French manufacturer Mathis and Ford. Styling was similar to Ford's American vehicles and this model shared its chassis with Fords built in Dagenham, England
