Service to the Amateur Builder

In going so far the amateur builder can call in all sorts of aid. he will get a timber merchant to syteam-bend the frame hardwood. he will seek an oxy-welding shop to make a rigid chassis if he has not selected a stock chassis. he can get a carpenter to make window and door frames, kitchenette lid and the like. A cabinetmaker will make the drawer units.

Adding the Furniture

Framing to take the screen between the bedroom and the kitchen is made next, followed by the framework for holding the drawers and the bureau cupboard at the opposite end.

In the Kitchenette, make the ice-box first, perhaps using the parts of an old chest, but re-insulated for its warmer positionnear the spirit stoves. The water tank must be accessible. Around the stove add sheets of asbestos. It is both an insulator and saftey precaution. When these items are attended to consideration shifts to dustproof drawers for the larder and shelves for the kitchenware.

In making the drawers hook and eye catches or special notches cut so the the drawer must be lifted up before opening are necessary so that they will not open in transit.

Kitchenette

An alternative kitchenette arrangement for the back of the caravanette. Dustproof compartments are behind the boot lid.
